SMRBTS

GCSD4 V2 + SMRBTS

PORTABLE GROUND CONTROL STATION D4

WITH

REDUNDANT SMART BASE STATION

Long Range. ¡More than 200Km!

RADIO CONTROL AND TELEMETRY 433, 868, 902, 915, 950Mhz

SMBTS

Redundant Smart Base Station

SMRBTS is a redundant system that integrates two transmitters of Radio Control and Telemetry.

It is mounted on a biquad antenna of 12dBi (BQ89) and the second transmitter is connected through the SMA-Female connector to a second biquad antenna BQ89 or moxon MX433.

It is similar to SMBTS (Smart Base Station) but double increasing even more the security and the effective range of the whole system.

The redundant system greatly improves the performance, safety and range of GCSD4V2, allowing the antennas to be placed further and without RF losses.

It allows to use two different RF bands simultaneously, for example 868Mhz and 433Mhz or different frequencies in a single band 902Mhz and 915Mhz.

To the whole (SMRBTS + BQ89 + BQ89) we call it Redundant Smart Antenna.

EVLOS, BVLOS and NLOS.

SMRBTS is compatible only with GCSD4V2 or higher versions.

Maximum Security

SMRBTS has two XLRS transmitters of up to 1W of power, so you will need two antennas for GCSD4V2 and two redundant receivers on the aircraft or drone, thus increasing system security.

It also allows you to use two different frequency bands (According to standards and countries you can only use different frequencies in a single band) for example in 433Mhz and 915Mhz increasing the security against interference if there were any and reflections of the RF signal. Also if one of the two transmitters fails, it would not be noticed.

Error correction in real time

Correction of package errors in real time when using two RXLRS receivers on the plane or drone, packet reception errors are corrected immediately by the secondary receiver.

When the plane is far away and the radio signal is approaching the RF noise level, individual packet failures increase, reducing to maximum range, but if we use two receivers (And much better if we also use two redundant transmitters), packet failures are greatly reduced by increasing the working range from 50% of maximum range to 80-90% approximately.

In other words, if with a maximum range of 200Km the recommended working range was 100km with this solution the recommended working range can reach 160-180Km.

Secondary Receiver

Redundant System

SMRBTS needs to work with two redundant receivers.

When operating simultaneously on different channels or different RF bands, it is necessary to use two RXLRS receivers on the plane or drone. It’s like having two different radio systems working at the same time but collaborating in real time to correct package errors one by one.

Using two RXLRS receivers is equivalent to an increase of sensitivity at the sensitivity limit (-113dBm @ 100kb or -116dBm @ 50kb) from 3 to 9 dBm depending on conditions. Learn more about redundant receivers …

Connection for Smart Antennas

The Smart Antennas SMBTS (Smart Base Station) and SMRBTS (Redundant Smart Base Station) are connected with a CAT5E ethernet cable or higher to GCSD4V2, the cable can measure from 3 to 10m or more allowing a more comfortable installation of the antennas, especially in vehicles or for another type of application that needs to have the antennas away from GCSD4V2.

Maximum range improvement with SMRBTS

Using SMRBTS we have avoided RF losses that had the previous GCSD4V1, when the antenna was connected using the coaxial cable.

Now we win up to 2 or 3dB and with the biquad antenna (BQ89) we have up to 12dBi comparing with the 6dBi of the SMP-4G-LTE patch or 9dbi for the SMP-918 patch that is no longer manufactured.

Obtaining a gain of 7-8dB that improve the range and almost doubling the current one.

Increase range of system

With the antenna (BQ89) you can easily add one or two biquad elements increasing the total gain of the antenna and therefore the range of the XLRS system.

Consult the current regulations of your country to correct the maximum power allowed in the transmitters.

TELEMETRY

Internal Radiomodem (Data Link) with Radio Control, MAVLINK and transparent protocols.

Interface: Mavlink data is available via USB-PC or via bluetooth of GCSD4-V2.

Compatible with RXLRS receiver, autopilots Pixhawk, APM, etc and software: Mission Planner, QGroundcontrol, etc.

DMDStudio

DMDStudio is the configuration and utilities software for all XLRS systems in Windows environment.

The same software is used for all XLRS devices. Once you learn how to configure or update a device, you can configure almost all devices, except for the differences of each device.

Update firmware of the device, accesing the BOOT tab (DS/SYS/BOOT).
