About Us

About Us

Know us:

Digital Micro Devices (DMD), was created in 1992, we design and manufacture in Spain (Europe) radio modules and electronic products with our own technology.

We are manufacturers. The electronic boards are designed and assembled in our factory in Spain.

We have long experience in 3D CAD, industrial electronic systems, automotive, RF modules, analog and digital systems, microcontrollers, firmware and software. In fact, we have our own RTOS real-time operating system for XLRS systems.

We are specialists in radio frequency modules in the ISM (Industrial Scientific and Medical) bands, 169Mhz, 434Mhz, 868Mhz, 902Mhz, 960Mhz, 1.2Ghz, 2.4Ghz and 5.8Ghz. We use the best RF chips in evolved and proven designs.

Our R&D technicians are experienced model airmen, some since 1981. More than 1200 flight hours in FPV-UAV alone since 2007.

Some history:

In 2007 we designed the first long range FPV and radio control equipment, we created the LRS (Long Range Systems) brand with ranges of 50Km for 1W of power. Something that only military or highly priced equipment had.
Now this range was already possible for small businesses and hobbyists.
The acronym LRS became famous all over the world and everyone was talking about LRS equipment for any FPV product even if it reached only a few kilometers.

In a few years and with the constant improvement of LRS products, we reached 200Km with the same power, 1W. So we changed the LRS brand to XLRS (Extended Long Range Systems).
The market for XLRS systems with ranges of 250km or more is not for amateurs. XLRS is sold to manufacturers, professionals, military or government.

Our difference:

XLRS products are solid, designed from scratch with the necessary means and industrial experience, with the evolution and improvement of years of testing, experimentation, use and advice from some of our more than 1400 clients.
We have several product lines that we regularly manufacture and when the client requires it, we manufacture custom equipment.
Of course we are not perfect, we can always improve and that is why we manufacture short series of products to allow continuous changes and improvements to offer the best possible product at all times.

Gold Rush:

Today with the rise of drones, many catch the gold rush and believe that they can build GCS ground control stations and long-range equipment.

We are concerned that our potential clients know how to differentiate the true professionals who have spent years creating and improving products, from newcomers to the market who lie, have no manufacturing experience, do not know how to fly, are not model aircraft and who dare to integrate occasionally. (not to manufacture) by disassembling cheap RC transmitters and placing them inside suitcases to make GCS with prices that do not correspond at all to the final quality of the equipment.

Some say that they manufacture GCS but they really only made one or two and put the photos on the internet, we do not usually see any real manual, or serious datasheets and with complete information, it can be noted that they do not assemble series of these products.
On the other hand, we see how they do not have experience in manufacturing and they send the products to China to be manufactured, well in principle this is not bad, but we believe that if the manufacturer is not a real manufacturer, he does not control the quality or the process well, it can happen The same thing that is happening now with the chips: 75% are manufactured in Taiwan and that is not good for the rest of the world, it brings many problems that we are currently suffering in 2021.

Not having real experience, not having radio frequency instruments is something that happens often, we see how design, product and assembly errors are made with radio modems and antennas. In part this is why the other equipment is not as good as the XLRS systems.

Objectives:

Flying reliably and safely even on flights of more than 150km:

With XLRS systems you will achieve it. They are systems very proven in practice and one of the best products on the market.

Good prices:

for this we have several product lines with scalability. You can select from features, options, and a good price range to get the best solution for your application.

Lately we have had to raise prices a bit due to the crisis in raw materials, energy prices and transport, hopefully it will be temporary, it will be solved as soon as possible and we will improve prices.

In 2022 we have added full HD digital video to XLRS products. It is not cheap, but it is of quality, we believe that its price will drop over time. For the moment we will not abandon the analog video that is very competitive in price and is an alternative for tight budgets.

Facilitate integration:

If you are a manufacturer or integrator, we will help you choose and integrate the most suitable XLRS system for your product or if you need it, manufacture it to measure for a perfect integration.

Save time and costs:

If you are designing a complete UAV with all the systems, or a complex application with multiple UAVs, even if you have an engineering department, if you are not a multinational, it is difficult and expensive to group together a group of experienced engineers in all the necessary specialties: aeronautics, piloting, microcontrollers, electronics, firmware, software, radio frequency, antennas, telecommunications, etc. many times reality and time are imposed. It will surely be faster and cheaper to go to the market as soon as possible, using equipment from specialized companies like ours for the radio control and telemetry part, for example.
