I have a professional UAV and a good base station or GSC:

There is no point in risking the UAV with mediocre solutions!!

Using a loose tripod with a patch antenna and moving it manually, especially if the UAV is far away, aiming well and getting the best signal is not easy, can cause link losses in manual centering and can distract attention. 

I’ll fly or sail away:

At long distances, for example from 25Km, it is advisable to use a tracker antenna, from 50Km it is very necessary and at 100 or 150Km I would say it is essential.
When the vehicle is far away, you have to take into account some details such as the fresnel zone and the curvature of the earth.

As a reference for 100Km, you must fly at least 250-300m or if this is not possible or you are going to navigate, the base station should be at this approximate height above sea level.

How to get the maximum range of the Data_Link:

If you have a SATPRO you can install relatively large antennas such as a 24dBi satellite dish at 2.4Ghz or high gain 868-950Mhz yagi antennas that are large and can no longer be pointed manually.

To avoid interruptions in the radio link due to manual pointing, a SATPRO is necessary.
