New XLRS products for 2022
The 2022 comes with many news and eager to have new XLRS devices and new versions of existing ones.
In this article we will review the changes in technology in general, how it will affect the new XLRS products and the performance in general.
The next few days we will send articles with the changes and specific news of each XLRS product. Stay tuned!
COVID-19, Industry and Chip Shortage:
The end of the year 2021 is marked by economic uncertainty in general and in the industry in particular due to Covid-19 and the shortage of raw materials, specifically the lack of chips that affects our type of industry.
Chip shortage is a cause for concern and that will give more to talk about in the coming months since not everyone has been able to prevent what was going to happen and collecting material requires investment and only some companies have done so.
We were farsighted and in March 2021 we increased our reserves of the most critical material such as chips,
one year from now, even so logically you can not have the parts of all the devices of a year in stock
and the lack of raw materials in general may affect us in the coming months.
Hopefully it will be solved as soon as possible.
As for the chips, it is not clear yet when it will be solved, everything indicates that it will still last a long time, perhaps another year, so it would be good to prevent purchases as much as possible.
There is a risk of not having the products when they are needed or simply not having them and being left with a half project.
Even so, we are committed to improving current XLRS products and designing new ones that will be better and more efficient, we have worked hard this year and now we are beginning to see the fruits.
[ps2id id=’6th_Radio_modules’ target=”/]New Radio Modules, 6th Generation:
It is already the 6th Generation of radio modules for Radio control and Telemetry.
With expected peak ranges of 300km for 1W of power and 100kb of modulation. Designed and manufactured by us, Digital Micro Devices in Spain.
We have added a Diversity, an additional LNA, a dedicated microcontroller and it is pluggable.
The diversity with two antennas will improve the working range by 33%, the LNA or extra low noise amplifier will also further extend the range and the dedicated microcontroller will increase the performance of the radio and the devices in general.
Before the RF module was welded, now it is interchangeable, this allows to quickly exchange modules with the specific regulations for different countries, improving production.
There are two types of modules:
1- From 313 to 470Mhz.
2- From 860 to 950Mhz (The most used).
The RF module upgrade affects virtually all XLRS products by 2022.
[ps2id id=’SAT’ target=”/]SATPRO. Smart Antena Tracker:
We really wanted to have this product of our own design. It is finally going to be a reality.
A professional automatic tracking antenna, robust, powerful, 360º rotation, 1º precision, with battery included for 4h, wireless connection without delay of 30m to the base station. Also cable connection for those who need it.
Composed of a robust mechanical system that can support multiple antennas and withstand the force of the wind, easily removable and transportable.
It contains the tracking controller, GPS, magnetometer, inclinometer, battery, radio control and telemetry, wifi, digital video subsystem or analog and a small display for the most important parameters and alarms. This data can be viewed on any of the GCSD4 or GCSD5 instruments.
Tripod to choose. It can be put in a vehicle with the appropriate mechanical adaptation.
This allows the pilot to separate from the antennas but with full control of the antennas. In the case of places where the weather is bad or very cold or sunny and the flights are long, it is highly appreciated. More info SATPRO…
[ps2id id=’Digital_Video’ target=”/]Full HD Digital Video:
We have finally incorporated Digital Video into XLRS equipment. This brings a world of possibilities.
The expected ranges are: 30Km and 50Km at the moment.
For now the price is higher than the analog video for a similar range, also the video performance is much better, we think that the price will drop little by little over time.
Two HDMI inputs, one for the pilot’s camera and the other for an observer.
The digital video system will be integrated into the XLRS system, prepared for gimbals, high resolution cameras with Zoom, thermal, multispectral, etc.
The standard frequency band is 2.4Ghz, optionally it can be 800Mhz and 1.4Ghz.
The video will be integrated into the new SAT (Smart Antenna tracker) since to obtain these ranges at 2.4Ghz it is necessary to use directional antennas with automatic tracking.
The radio system of digital video is independent of the radio control system, this provides greater security and effective range.
[ps2id id=’Color_Display’ target=”/]Color Displays:
Now in all products the displays are TFT IPS color, larger and with more resolution.
The central display in GCSD4 and GCSD5 is 4.3 “and touch controlled by a dedicated GPU, now the graphics are of much higher quality and user interactivity is improved.
Auxiliary displays and XVID, they are now 1.5″.
[ps2id id=’LiOn_Batteries’ target=”/]New LiOn Batteries:
Most XLRS products will be equipped with the new Lithium-iOn batteries with more capacity, smaller size, less weight and more than 1000 recharges.
